Melinda Sheckells, Las Vegas lifestyle and entertainment expert, shares recommendations on what to try this week and what’s happening around town in the realm of dining and drinking.

Las Vegas restaurants are reopening and the culinary scene is once again buzzing. Here are the tastiest spots to check out right now.

In the mood for a South American barbecue feast? Pampas at Miracle Mile Shops is open for takeout and delivery. Their specialty sandwich, the Bauru, is a pressed French baguette, filled with choice of meat and lathered in garlic aioli, topped with cheese, pickled cucumbers and onions. This feast is $25 for two or $40 for four. @PampasLasVegas

Downtown favorite Esther’s Kitchen is now open, and regular hours, weekend brunch and lunch start rolling out May 29. Their new and seasonal menu items include Lasagna Verde, Vegan Carrot Risotto and Nigerian Prawn Toast, among others.

While at Esther’s pop over to Garagiste Wine Room & Merchant, where you can enjoy a bottle on the patio or take a bottle home. They are open Thursday to Sunday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

One of the best restaurants in Las Vegas, EDO Tapas is now open for dine-in service Thursday to Tuesday. Reservations are required. Chef Oscar Amador Edo is from Barcelona and his menu embodies creative Spanish cooking. The tasting menu for $60 per person is the way to go to get a sample of it all. Favorites include salmon on toast with toffee butter, shrimp with mushroom and egg and fresh scallop crudo.

Since bars are not open try making a cocktail at home with Sailor Jerry. The Backyard Tea is two parts Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, one part iced tea, two parts lemonade; serve on the rocks, garnished with a lemon. It is a refreshing and delightful way to kick off summer.

And in the biggest restaurant news of the week, Wynn Las Vegas is opening five of its restaurants on May 29—Allegro, Jardin, Mizumi, SW Steakhouse and Lakeside.

Guests will enjoy access to full menus at each restaurant and an exclusive “Welcome Back to Wynn” three-course, prix-fix menu will be featured at Allegro ($45), Lakeside ($75), Mizumi ($65), Jardin ($40) and SW Steakhouse ($75), plus tax and gratuity, with wine and cocktail pairings available at an additional cost. Both Jardin and Allegro will host a daily happy hour from 3 to 5 p.m. with food, wine and cocktail specials.

Al fresco dining can be enjoyed at both Lakeside and SW alongside nightly performances of the Lake of Dreams, while Mizumi’s floor-to-ceiling retractable windows that open up to the restaurant’s 90-foot waterfall allows for diners to delight in the outdoors as well.
