For generations, General Mills has made breakfast a little spookier with its line of Monster Cereals. Count Chocula and Franken Berry first appeared on shelves in 1971, and Boo Berry, Yummy Mummy, and Fruit Brute followed. In celebration of the brand's 50th anniversary, General Mills is getting the whole ghoulish gang back together for a special-edition Monster Mash Cereal, Bloody Disgusting reports.

The new Monster Mash Cereal will include all the Monster Cereals in one box for the first time. Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo Berry are perennial favorites—becoming wildly available each year around Halloween—but Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute are no longer included in the regular line-up. The werewolf-themed Fruit Brute was introduced in 1974 and discontinued in 1982. Yummy Mummy's original run lasted from 1987 to 1992. General Mills briefly revived both cereals in the 2010s.

When the Monster Mash cereal hits stores this Halloween season, it will include flavored marshmallows and cereal pieces from all five classic cereals. A sneak preview of the box shows the monsters portrayed in their retro designs instead of the updated looks from recent years. The Monster Cereals' seasonal (and sometimes regional) availability have made them hot commodities among fans. This limited-edition box will likely be just as popular, despite the brand's controversial history.
