When the Toro Bravo restaurant group announced its disintegration this summer amidst founder John Gorham’s public controversy, it looked like restaurants like Tasty ‘N Daughters and Toro Bravo would never reopen. But now, fans of the restaurants have a reason to celebrate: Former employees Faye Crosswhite and Mike Kessler, in a partnership with restaurant group ChefStable, have purchased the rights to the brand. The team will open the simply named Tasty in Lake Oswego next spring.
Kessler, who worked as chef de cuisine at the event space Plaza Del Toro, will run the kitchen as executive chef, according to a press release. The menu will focus on “Tasty classics, both brunch and dinner.” Katherine Benvenuti, the baker behind the soon-to-close Bakery at Bar King, will join as pastry chef, head baker, and business partner. Crosswhite will run the operations as general manager.
Tasty will open in the Mercato Grove, a new retail and residential area currently in development in Lake Oswego. Far larger than Tasty and Daughters on Division, the 3,200-square foot space will have 104 indoor seats and a 100-seat outdoor patio. When it opens in the spring of 2021, service will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with happy hour between brunch and dinner service. Stay tuned for more info.
