seringgusur.blogspot.com
Bakers and foodies around Goa are busy whipping up delicious treats for Christmas! While some are adding sweetness with traditional confections, some are getting creative with their Christmas-themed bakes!
Chocolate stuffed figurines
Gilroy D’souza, from Baker’s Street has made an interesting range of Christmas-themed confections like the gingerbread cookies, rocky road, marzipan, shortbread cookies, sticky dates and pecan pudding, Santa choco chip cookies, cashew drops and so on! He’s also worked on chocolate-stuffed figurines like chocolate reindeer, Xmas tree, baubles, stars, snowman, Santa and so on, in addition to macarons and cookies.

Banana breads & strawberry tarts Ditching the authentic Christmas plum cake and ginger bread cookies, Shreya Shirsat, from Chocolate Story, has come up with boxes containing chocolate and walnut banana bread, strawberry truffle, XMas themed hot chocolate bombs and trinkets. Similarly The Perfect Cup has their Christmas special strawberry tart and carrot cake.

Pizza cookies!

Kuheli Bhattacharya Rane who frequently experiments with festive goodies whipped up decadent ‘pizzacookies’! “I was always interested in these large skillet cookies, they have something so comforting and decadent about them! Pizzookies have a soft chewy texture, and is a best seller these days with the brown butter, salted nuts and chocolate chips,” she says.
Coconut everything!
Griselda and Fernando Monte da Silva, from Our White Door, have crafted hampers with entirely local produce, focussing on the coconut. It includes a jar of homemade coconut caramel, home-pressed coconut oil, organic coconut loofah, Xmas-themed organic soap, coconut shell bowl, chocolate covered bolinhas and pinagre.
French desserts
Ericka from Golden Chantily has chosen to focus on natural flavours and colours in her exotic desserts. “I have worked on a Christmas menu this year giving special focus on our bûche de noël. Simple and exotic fruits and flavours have been put together to create ‘Exotique’. Our humble coconut has been infused with passion fruit and lime to construct a sweet and sour palette. Another log I worked on is the ‘Fraise Coco’ where seasonal fruit strawberry has been paired with coconut. If the log is much we have also introduced smaller goodies like the ‘Soyeuse Baileys’ which is a baileys bavaroise has been paired with cocoa and belgian chocolate for the chocolate alcohol lovers. We also kept it plain and christmassy where we created red and green pairing of pistachio and raspberry to give you ‘Cu Fistic Si Zmeur’,” she tells us.
Themed cupcakes and chocolates
Anoushka Sequeira Fernandes, from Sugarlicious, has crafted a variety of hampers offering a variety of traditional cakes like the fruit cake and a pound cake, themed cupcakes, crinkles, marshmallows, candy canes, marie biscuits dipped in chocolate, chocolates in the shape of a bell and a gingerman lollipop.
