Melinda Sheckells, lifestyle and entertainment expert and editor of OffTheStrip.com, shares recommendations on what to eat and drink this week in Las Vegas.

It’s time to say goodbye to 2020 and you might as well go out with a culinary bang. Here are three restaurants with New Year’s Eve menus to check out whether you choose to venture to the Strip or stay close to home.

A Seafood Feast

Water Grill in The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace has a four course dinner for $140 plus $40 for wine pairings. This curated menu features all the delicacies of the sea from which to choose. For the first course, offerings include crab cakes, shrimp cocktail, oysters and more; the second course spotlights dishes such as beet salad, caesar salad and even clam chowder; the entrees range from wild Brittany Dover sole to New Zealand King salmon and Snake River Farms American Wagyu ribeye and King Crab legs and desserts such as espresso cake, bread pudding and key lime pie. Water Grill is taking reservations up to 10 p.m. While the regular menu is not available on New Year’s Eve, the NYE menu is available ala carte at the bar.

New Year’s Eve Hong Kong Style

Chinglish Cantonese Wine Bar just opened on the west side, is offering a six-course, prix fixe wine dinner for $95 featuring chicken dumplings, Mongolian beef, Peking duck, bok choy and more. Reservations are available for the Vegas NYE countdown from 10 to 1230 a.m. Even if you don’t make it there on the holiday it is a must try for those that love Hong Kong cuisine. For more than 45 years, Chef Lam has worked in restaurants from Hong Kong to Beijing to San Francisco.

See 2021 from Top of the World

Undoubtedly the best view of Las Vegas, the 360-degree, rotating Top of the World restaurant will showcase several New Year’s Eve experiences, offering a five-course prix fixe menu from 3 p.m. to midnight. Highlights are the pappardelle pasta served with duck confit, tomato sugo, porcini mushrooms and smoked salt, and miso sea bass in a ginger sake reduction served with sweet potato purée and fried leeks. The main course features a choice of slow braised short ribs in a dark chocolate and chile demi-glace served with parsnip chips and a crisp polenta cake or lobster and crab risotto served in a saffron broth with sweet pea emulsion. The sweet ending to both the meal and the year is the white chocolate panna cotta with champagne gelee and macerated strawberries; passion fruit petit four with coconut sponge, passion fruit curd and white chocolate mirror glaze; and chocolate praline with dark chocolate sponge, milk chocolate mousse, praline crunch, ganache and feuilletine.

Dinner at Top of the World is priced at $125 per person for reservations between 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with party favors included. For reservations after 9:45 p.m. at Top of the World and 107 SkyLounge, dinner will be priced at $249 and will include fireworks viewing, a champagne toast and party favors. For upgraded window seating at Top of the World, the meal will be priced at $274.
