Cyberpunk 2077's Food Doesn't Look Very Tasty | Screen Rant - Screen Rant

There are a lot of interesting things to find on the streets of Night City, but residents of Cyberpunk 2077's open world probably shouldn't eat the food. While food is usually one of the least important aspects of a video game's graphics (unless it's some sort of hyper-realistic cooking simulator) there is something which is specifically gross about the way food looks in Cyberpunk 2077. From the weird visual effect of having sausages appear in Jackie's chopsticks seemingly at random during conversations to the multiple kiosks and food stalls which dot Night City's map, the food in Cyberpunk 2077 looks nasty.

To be fair, depending on what platform a user is playing on, a lot of Cyberpunk 2077 can look pretty bad. The game was so unbelievably janky at launch that its developers announced refunds would be available for PS4 and Xbox One users - although later it turned out Cyberpunk 2077 didn't clear these refunds with Sony, and PS4 users are now being asked to simply "wait" until a proper course of action can be taken. While the controversy and concealment of Cyberpunk 2077 is, in itself, gross on a lot of levels, no matter what console or platform players are experiencing Cyberpunk on, the food still looks pretty terrible.

All of the images below (and the image at the top of this article) are from the Google Stadia version of Cyberpunk 2077, which actually runs fairly well. Since Stadia is streaming directly from Google's servers, many of the problems found on the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Cyberpunk 2077 aren't present. However, the game still does not - and likely will not ever - look as good here as it does on a high-end PC with brand-new graphics cards and ray tracing enabled. While ray tracing would probably help to make Cyberpunk 2077's food look shiner, it won't make it look any more edible. Check out some of the meals below:

Cyberpunk: Burgers, Hot Dogs, & Fries, Oh My

Cyberpunk 2077 Burgers and Fries

From the fake, plastic-y way the burgers look to the way the ketchup and mustard is pretty clearly painted on each hot dog, there isn't much to get hungry about when perusing the food warmer boxes in Cyberpunk 2077. The fact that this particular stand is located in a dimly-lit room is even more worrying - how long has this food been here, and why hasn't it molded yet? Anyone who has ever worked in fast food knows any answers to these questions are troubling.

Cyberpunk Pizza Party Ideas

If some sort of solid stir-fry and a lukewarm case of burgers and hot dogs wasn't enough, this apartment building also features some pretty unpleasant-looking pizza slices. Judging from the newspapers on the floor and the bugs on the table, the pizza isn't any fresher than the rest of the food. At least it's safely secured in a hostile area early on in Cyberpunk 2077's lengthy story, so players won't have to worry about being forced to hold their nose for long.

Night City Food Stalls Are Gross

Cyberpunk 2077 Food Stall

Even on the streets of Night City it's hard to find a decent bite to eat, which could be why so much of the city's wallspace in Cyberpunk 2077 is dedicated to vending machines. For players who don't want to consume food from a can or bag, however, there are few options which don't look entirely horrible. Unfortunately, none of them are pictured here - instead all there appears to be is a pan with what is hopefully some sort of tofu floating inside.

Even Night City Residents Hate Cyberpunk's Food

Cyberpunk 2077 Dumpster

The food in Cyberpunk 2077 is so bad, in fact, that Night City residents hate it just as much as players should. Why else would there be things like entire pizzas thrown away in almost every dumpster in the city? While some players may argue this was simply the game's developers reusing assets during forced developmental crunch periods, others likely know the truth - the food was too gross for even the hungriest people of Night City to eat.
