The holiday was born in 1987 when Matt Nader of San Francisco’s Blue Chip Cookie Co. declared Dec. 4 as the day to celebrate cookies in all their various flavors and forms.

Read on for a rundown of a handful of the many cookie shops and bakeries in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. Shop local, shop tasty.
