ATHOL — The Athol Public Library, in conjunction with Historic Deerfield, presents a live program on pounded cheese, a tasty appetizer from the past, on Tuesday, April 27, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Log in to meet one of their historic food specialists and have fun learning about food and history. This program will include the opportunity to follow along in your own kitchen and prepare the recipe to have a taste of the past.
Learn how to make an unusual and tasty cheese spread. The recipe for pounded cheese comes from an early 1800s cookbook and includes interesting ingredients like cheddar cheese, curry powder and a pinch of cayenne pepper.
While you might be tempted to use a food processor, consider trying to pound the ingredients by hand.
Made possible by the support of the Friends of the Athol Public Library. Registration required.
