Three years after its debut and one year after its most recent colour palette update, the eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette is welcoming a trio of new paint finishes, all of which will be on offer in Canada.
The options, announced by Chevrolet at the National Corvette Museum Bash in Bowling Green, Kentucky this week, include Hypersonic Gray, Amplify Orange, and Caffeine.
Now, if the American muscle-maker “amplified” the orange from the outgoing Sebring Orange Tintcoat, you’ll need a sharp eye to tell how and to what effect. They’re both bright and, well, orange, but not all that different from one another. The Sebring Orange cost extra on the previous model year, so don’t be surprised if Chevy carries that logic forward for 2022.
The Hypersonic Gray, meanwhile, is a little less “shadowy” and a bit brighter than the Shadow Gray Metallic it’s replacing. And if you’re gonna buy a gray Corvette, might as well make it bright gray.
Lastly but not leastly, there’s the Caffeine, pictured up top in the Metallic finish, which is much richer and more bold (to borrow some coffee terms) than the Zeus Bronze that it’s swapping out.
Regardless of the hue of the paint on the outside, what’s under the hood will remain the same: the standard 2022 Corvette is powered by a 490-horsepower 6.2-litre V8 connected to an eight-speed DCT.
The 2022 Corvette will be available for order sometime in early July.
