Tasty Donuts, which supplies fresh donuts and other pastries, has announced it will be expanding its concept in 2021 by opening Tasty Scoops & Sweets, a gelato and candy shop that will be located in the Cambridge Square community in Ooltewah.
Tasty Donuts already has an existing store in Cambridge that opened in 2018. This new venture will be located in an approximately 1,800 square foot space just across the public square with a projected opening for spring of this year. Both enterprises are owned and operated by founder Tony McInnis.
“Since opening, Tony and his team have made thousands of Cambridge Square patrons very happy,” said Jim Cheney who oversees marketing for the development.
“When we had an opportunity for another dessert option, we called him first. He has an exceptional brand and a whole lot of creative vision and we are confident that Tasty Scoops & Sweets will be a huge hit. We are also very proud to have an existing tenant expand their business model within Cambridge; that’s the best compliment we could hope for in today’s real estate climate, and we’re grateful to Tony and all our tenants for pulling through a tough year intact.”While still in the early stage in terms of the full menu range, visitors to Tasty Scoops & Treats can expect a "virtual wonderland" of frozen favorites including hand crafted gelatos, traditional ice creams, splits, sundaes, donut ice cream sandwiches, and milkshakes, as well as homemade waffle cones and cups. In addition, Tasty Scoops & Treats will offer grab-n-go candies and snacks such as pralines, fudges, macaroons, nuts and fruits. "And true to their nature, Tasty will be looking for new ways to evolve the menu all the time," officials said.
“We are excited to bring another dream into reality this year,” said Mr. McInnis. “The idea of Scoops and Sweets has been floated around for a number of years, driven primarily by my wife and partner, Kathy McInnis, our ‘Donut Queen.’ Family traditions and a quick flip through old New Orleans recipes created a list of sweets that are both handcrafted and delicious. We are grateful to the Cambridge Square Community for the support of our donut shop and the management for their faith in us to execute this new concept.”
