GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Grand Rapids may be Beer City U.S.A., but that doesn’t mean we don’t have our fair share of delicious margaritas, too.

Whether you like it frozen or on the rocks, the Grand Rapids area is full of great, local spots to get a delicious margarita. We’ve rounded up 10 places where you can get your margarita on, from right in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids to over in Holland. Keep scrolling to read our top choices across the area.

1. Donkey Taqueria

Donkey Taqueria has been serving up fresh, authentic Mexican fare on Wealthy Street since 2013, and its margaritas are among some of the best in the city.

The menu boasts six delicious margarita options, from the Classic Margarita made with Olmeca Altos tequila, curacao, lime for $9.50, to the Spicy Margarita made with house-infused jalapeno Olmeca Altos tequila, curacao, and a chile salt rim for $10.50.

Donkey, located at 665 Wealthy St. SE, is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. You can reach the restaurant by calling 616-259-9483 or visit its website or Facebook page.

2. Cantina Mexican Grill

Cantina Mexican Grill is a family-owned Mexican grill and bar that has been a staple in Grand Rapids since 1976. Whether you prefer it on the rocks or frozen, Cantina has a wide selection of mouthwatering margaritas made with a special recipe that “can’t be beat,” according to the restaurant’s website.

The eatery has a traditional restaurant upstairs for if you’re looking to sit down and enjoy a delicious margarita with a meal. There’s also a downstairs lounge/bar area that’s the perfect place to watch a game or hang out with friends while enjoying great drink prices and unlimited chips and salsa.

Cantina is located at 2770 East Paris Ave., right off 28th Street in Kentwood. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. The downstairs lounge is open Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.

3. Luna

Luna, a Latin-inspired eatery with locations in downtown Grand Rapids and Ada, is another great place to get your margarita on. Served on draft, Luna’s margaritas are handmade daily with fresh citrus and kegged. They are served on the rocks with a salt rim, and can be ordered in a flight with three margaritas for $16.

The Classic Margarita is made with fresh-squeezed lime, silver tequila, orange, simple syrup for $10, or you can get an $11 flavored margarita and choose from Prickly Pear, Mango, Spicy, or Paloma. The Ada restaurant also has a featured Pineapple Margarita served with a spicy rim for $11.

Luna’s downtown Grand Rapids restaurant is located at 64 Ionia Ave. SW, and the Ada location is at 7471 River St. SE. Both locations are open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday from 3-8 p.m.

4. MeXo

MeXo prides itself in not just offering dinner and drinks, but an experience that “will go beyond your expectations of dining,” according to the restaurant’s website. The bar offers an extensive list of tequila and mezcal selections, making MeXo a great place to get your fix of margaritas and other delicious cocktails.

The MeXo Margarita Classic, $10, is described as a balanced, citrus cocktail made with Blanco tequila, Bauchant, MeXo limonada and citrus salt. It’s also available as a mocktail with no tequila for $6. There’s also a smokey Oaxacan Margarita, $11, made with 400 Conejos Mezcal, Velvet Falernum, pineapple, lime, orange agave and bitters, among other unique menu options.

MeXo is located at 118 Fulton St. E in downtown Grand Rapids. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can call the restaurant at 616-828-4123 or visit its website or social media for more information.

5. Beltline Bar

Beltline Bar is known as the original home of the wet burrito, a Midwestern staple that was coined at the restaurant in 1966 – but it’s also known for its delicious house margaritas.

Beltline Bar’s margaritas come frozen or on the rocks, and have flavor options including mango, prickly pear, raspberry and strawberry. Customers can also take their margaritas with them in pouches with matching plastic margarita glasses, taking the lime and salt with you. A 1-gallon margarita kit is available for $59.99, or a half-gallon kit is listed at $29.99, according to an online menu on the restaurant’s website.

The restaurant is located at 16 28th St. SE in Grand Rapids. It’s open Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. You can reach Beltline Bar by calling 616-245-0494 or visit its website and Facebook page.

6. Maya Mexican Grill & Bar

Maya Mexican Grill & Bar, located inside Rogers Plaza Mall in Wyoming, was previously named by MLive as one of the best Mexican restaurants in the state. Maya does everything well, from a solid margarita menu to homemade chips and salsa to fajitas and tacos, inside a vibrant atmosphere.

Maya is located at 1020 28th St. SW in Wyoming. It’s open Tuesday through Thursday from 3-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m., according to hours posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page. 7. Cinco de Mayo

Located right in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, Cinco de Mayo is a great place to stop in for a delicious margarita while you’re out for a night on the town. The restaurant also serves up freshly made Mexican food available for dine-in and take-out, including tacos, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, and more.

The drink menu features a delicious house margarita that’s served frozen or on the rocks, and can be made with a variety of fruit flavor options for an additional $0.69. The 12-ounce House Margarita is $8.99, or you can order a 60-ounce pitcher for $20.99, according to an online menu.

Cinco de Mayo, located at 114 Monroe Center St. NW, is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The restaurant’s Facebook page is linked here, or you can call the restaurant at 616-719-2401.

8. Condado Tacos

Condado Tacos is another great spot to hit when you’re craving a margarita, with a variety of crafted and house margaritas on the menu. If you like your margaritas smokey, be sure to check out the Smoke Show, made with Ghost Blanco Tequila, Ilegal Mezcal Joven, Ancho Reyes Chili, blood orange, lime, and agave with a black salt rim.

The build-your-own-taco restaurant chain based in Ohio has seven locations in Michigan, including two in Grand Rapids. There’s a location on Bridge Street downtown at 449 Bridge St., and one in Breton Village at 1874 Breton Road SE.

Both locations are open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight. Happy hour specials are offered on weekdays from 3-6 p.m.

9. Lindo Mexico

Lindo Mexico Restaurante Mexicano is a locally-owned restaurant that’s been serving up authentic Mexican food and delicious margaritas in the Grand Rapids area since 2000.

The restaurant offers a huge list of 12 regular and spicy margaritas, as well as nine ‘Ritas, which is a smaller version of the regular sized margaritas that offers the same great taste in a compact version. You can also order drinks and food online from the restaurant to-go, with margarita prices ranging from $10.99 to $17.99.

Lindo is located at 1742 28th St. SW in Wyoming, and you can reach the restaurant by calling 616-261-2280. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Here’s a link to the restaurant’s website and social media.

10. El Rancho

El Rancho has been serving up mouthwatering margaritas and delicious Mexican food in Holland for over 14 years.

The restaurant’s drinks menu includes a House Margarita, served frozen or on the rocks in a 12-ounce glass for $8.99, a 22-ounce for $11.99, a 34-ounce for $13.99, or in a pitcher for $20.99. The menu also boasts a variety of other margarita recipes, including a Sangarita Margarita (mixing tequila with sangria), a Margarona (a house margarita served with an upside down Corona) or a Blue Margarita (made with Blue Curacao).

El Rancho has two locations in Holland: One at 12659 Riley St. Suite 100, and one at 770 E. 16th St. in Suite A. A full menu is available on the restaurant’s website, linked here.
