BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV) — The Parkette in Bridgeport, WV is a landmark that has been around for decades, but how did this family business get started?
“My grandfather just came back from World War ll and was trying to figure out what to do with his life,” said Parkette Manager Logan Lehosit. “He saw this tiny little restaurant on the hill called The Parkette and bought it. He was a great human being. He was working here until like 97. I know tell me about it. He was driving himself to work until he was like 96 or 97 years old. He was cutting rib eye and doing onion rings.”
At the age of 25, Logan says his destiny was written in the great pages at elementary school.
“When I was in kindergarten, they had this little books and it said what do you want to be when you grow up. And I said I wanted to be the owner of the parkette. And here I am the manager and one day I will be the third generation owner,” Logan said.
Logan’s dad leads the way serving up these tasty dishes along with his sister.
He said, “my mom and my dad my mom comes in and manages sometimes. My sister makes these deserts and me. I do about everything. I do the cash register, cook, anything you can put in the kitchen I do it.”
Like many restaurants, the pandemic hit them hard and they had to lay off 20 people. However, things have ramped up and Logan says it seems like they are busier than the were before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Logan’s favorite dish on the menu is a rib-eye on bread with garlic and oil and both chesses.
