Catherine’s Academy (SCA), an all-boys’ Catholic school with a military tradition was set on a mission to raise important funds to help support tuition assistance for students in-need. With the help of staff, families, board of directors and friends, SCA was able to pre-sell over 500 delicious rib dinners which will be prepared by Chef Ron Trujillo. Those who supported the cause will be able to do drive- up pickup at the school on Saturday, November 21, 2020.
The coronavirus pandemic prompted St. Catherine’s Academy to think outside the box. The usual fundraisers that helped fund tuition assistance were no longer possible due to mass gatherings being prohibited. However, the need to raise important funds remained. School Principal and Administrator quickly suggested a Rib Fundraiser not imagining it would exceed her expectations.
“Our students love Chef Ron’s Ribs, but I never expected that so many meals would be ordered. I feel so blessed and filled with gratitude to everyone who supported our fundraiser from our staff to our families and friends,” said Sister Johnellen, school Principal/Administrator.
SCA’s entire kitchen staff along with Chef Ron have offered to donate their entire day to cook and prepare the meals in order to make this fundraiser possible. More than 100 of the 500 meals ordered were sponsored to help underserved families. In addition, one very generous family donated 30 meals to the Anaheim Police Department Staff with the intention to give back to the community.
“Dealing with Covid-19 has made us take different roads as a school community and we have been forced to adapt and keep moving forward,” said Sister Johnellen. “It makes me so happy to see that despite the challenges, we continue to stay strong together.”
