From taco salads to cheeseburger salads, our team was on a health kick in May — sort of.
Here are six of the best dishes we ate this month, listed in no particular order.
I had Jolof On Wheels, located right in front of the CLT Hub, which serves up some flavorful West African dishes. I ordered their popular marinated grilled lamb with jolof rice and a side of stew vegetables ($20) for lunch. — Alexis Clinton, reporter

I am the New Yorker who complains about a lack of quality bagels in the South, but all of this talk about bagels this month left me craving one. So I tried a bagel, garlic to be exact, and lox at The Good Wurst in South End ($11.95). Capers are an underrated food. We should add them to more meals. — Ashley Mahoney, reporter

The casa chopped salad with fajita steak from La Capital MX
This salad could have its own zip code — it was massive. The base came loaded with lettuce, chickpeas, hearts of palm, cucumbers, avocado, queso fresco, pumpkin seeds and then topped with tortilla strips ($14). I added their fajita steak for protein ($10) and covered the whole thing in chipotle ranch and chipotle honey mustard dressing. — McKenzie Rankin, Axios

I‘m always on the lookout for great lunch spots with yummy food and reliable Wifi for working remotely. Sunflour Baking Company in Dilworth fits that bill. The other day, I got the avocado melt, a panini that comes with avocado, goat cheese, roasted tomato, walnut pesto and spinach ($9.50). It was flavorful and satisfying. — Katie Peralta Soloff, editor

I asked the bartender what kind of protein I should add to my salad — chicken or beef — and he said that their staff really enjoys a cheeseburger on top so I said: “let’s try it.” Who am I to argue with the experts? It did not disappoint. — Laura Barrero, reporter
