From the not-so-tasty toast to proximity and role model for Europe, the Australia's iconic celebration - Motorcycle Sports

The riders who finished yesterday on the podium fulfilled a very popular tradition in Australia at the end of the race, by toasting with a 'shoey', the practice of drinking straight out of the boot (in this case, used in the race). Despite the flavor not as pleasant as Alex Rins, Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia admitted, the race remains in memory as one of the best in recent times and one of the best organized.

In a press conference, the riders were asked about the fact that they threw their boots at the fans, after 27 laps and more than 40 minutes of racing and... a about that very special toast right from their boots. Here are the respective answers:

Alex Rins:

- Pecco started [giving the idea], and he said: «Let's take off our boots and let's do it» - a celebration - like a real australian, like Jack [Miller] does when he finishes on the podium». Honestly the taste wasn't super good... but it was good to make.

Marc Marquez:

- The taste... well, the alcohol had the same effect because I drank quite a lot there. It's good, in the end it's what the fans like: all these things, the celebrations, the way to enjoy with them and share those moments. If we want to make MotoGP grow we have to do it and that comes from within and when you see them smiling you just give it your all.

Pecco Bagnaia:

- I think this weekend has to be an example for all races. When we got to the circuit, to the paddock, we had to do like a walk of fame with all the fans there. I think this will be very important for the future because the rider will be closer to the fans and the fans can be happy about that. What's more, all the activities that took place all weekend is something very important to replicate in Europe and then the invasion of the track... it's the first time I've seen something like this and it was amazing and I really liked it and when I started listening saying that the fans wanted the 'shoey' just said to the others: «Let's do it», and we did it. Of course the taste... it was the «same», but it's more what that means than the taste.
