CEDAR RAPIDS — A new restaurant category has opened in Cedar Rapids: crepes.
Tasty Crepe opened March 10 at 4444 First Ave. NE, Suite 3001, inside the cloud kitchen building next to Firestone Complete Auto Care. The building is on the south side of Lindale Mall, across the parking lot from Von Maur.
After The Grateful Crepe food truck, Tasty Crepe seems to be the first permanently located crepe restaurant in Cedar Rapids.
The thin, French pancakes can be ordered with sweet or savory fillings every day except Monday, with hours open over lunch and dinner, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page. Orders at the cloud kitchen are available for delivery through all major third-party delivery apps and pickup. Diners also can order in-person through computers and eat at the common area shared by other businesses in the First Avenue building.

Owner Matthew Siegel said he decided to open the new venture with his wife after fine-tuning their personal passion for crepes over years.
“You can incorporate a wide variety of ingredients, that’s one aspect of it I’ve always found to be fun,” he said.
