The Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo Cookoff is underway through Sept. 18, giving some 90 cooking teams a chance to show off their skills.
The cookoff, which was canceled last year because of the pandemic, is a kickoff event for the the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo, planned for Sept. 24 through Oct. 2.
The cookoff is from 5-11:55 p.m. at the Pasadena Fairgrounds, 7601 Red Bluff Road, Pasadena. To purchase tickets, visit https://bityl.co/8PXi
Kirk grew up in Dallas. He attended Texas A&M University. After several years in the tech industry he shifted paths to work as a professional photographer. He attended University of Houston Clear Lake where he completed his M.A. in graphic design and photography. He has taught graphic design, photography and videography at UHCL and College of the Mainalnd. Kirk now works as a staff photographer focusing on the Pearland, Friendswood, Pasadena and Clear Lake areas for the Houston Chronicle. Kirk also writes occasional stories of local community interest.
