If you've ever wondered what's the best food to eat in this world, well, you're in luck because CNN has the answers.
The U.S. based news organization recently released its World’s 50 Best Foods list and boy were there many surprises.
For starters, Malaysians were left proud when the iconic Penang Assam Laksa came in 7th, beating Thailand's crowd favorite Tom yam goong.
However, it's Thailand's Massaman curry that ultimately gets crowned the best food out of 50 dishes worldwide.
Here's the list, with the top 10 food:
1. Massaman curry, Thailand
2. Neapolitan pizza, Italy
3. Chocolate, Mexico
4. Sushi, Japan
5. Peking duck, China
6. Hamburger, Germany
7. Penang asam laksa, Malaysia
8. Tom yam goong, Thailand
9. Ice cream, global
10. Chicken muamba, Gabon
For many, this can come as disappointing since the Massaman curry isn't as iconic or well known than others on the list.
The dish, which has Muslim roots, is essentially curry paste made out of cardamom, cinnamon, cumin, cloves, nutmeg, and mace with potatoes, onions, and some meat.
It's a traditional Thai dish which CNN touts as "the king of curries, and perhaps the king of all foods."
However, the Penang Assam Laksa is the second best dish in Southeast Asia.
Apart from Thailand, Malaysia is the second country from this region to make it to the top 10 of this list.
The Penang Assam Laksa, which CNN describes as a dish "that'll have your nose running before the spoon even hits your lips" was one of the best food that the late legendary chef, Anthony Bourdain, claimed to ever had.
