FEATURE — What if I told you fresh, locally grown, naturally ripened produce was right at your fingertips? What if I told you that you might be eligible to get that produce for free? Sounds like a tasty deal, doesn’t it!
Over 20 farmers markets across the state of Utah accept SNAP EBT benefits. Bring your SNAP EBT Horizon card to a participating farmers market info booth or farm stand before you shop. Decide how much money you would like to spend.
The attendant at the booth will swipe your card for the requested amount, and will give you wooden tokens worth $1 each that you can use to purchase food from vendors at the market. You can use the tokens right away or save them for another day.
The Double Up Food Bucks program can help you get even more produce – and it’s free! The program works by matching SNAP benefits, dollar-for-dollar, up to $30 per market day at participating markets. If you receive SNAP benefits, you’re automatically eligible for Double Up Food Bucks.

With all that tasty produce at your fingertips, you’ll need some new recipes. Click here and browse through our Amazing Veggies recipes, and here for Fruity Desserts. You can also get a copy of our Farmers Market Cookbook here.
Strawberry Avocado Wrap is one of my favorite recipes from the book. Click here for the recipe.
Avocado, strawberries, spinach – it doesn’t get much better than that. Enjoy!
