Memes hyping up McDonald's Sprite are being widely circulated online, as customers branded the soda "spicy" and literally audible.

The Golden Arches is famous around the world with its signature Big Mac and Happy Meals, but the lemon-flavored drink is taking on a life of its own online.

The Sprite beverage brand, which is owned by the Coca-Cola Company, is merely served in the fast food chain. Despite it being available to buy from stores and supermarkets, numerous people seem to claim the sparkling soda seems to taste different when served from McDonald's.

Various memes have been circulated online for the past few months, while McDonald's has also continually fanned the flames surrounding the myth of its Sprite by posting its own versions.

On Wednesday, the official Twitter account shared a snap of dinosaurs and a giant cup of Sprite, alluding the beverage is what wiped out the prehistoric beasts.

The day before customer @nice_two simply shared a snap of themselves holding up a cup of the fizzy drink, which they captioned: "Good Luck to me...."

The tweet was liked more than 100,000 times, as the official Sprite account responded, saying: "It's been 11 hours someone check on this man."

And fellow customer, @2kgrinders2, posted a video recording what his Sprite sounded like, with the clip seen more than 150,000 times.

"I had a McDonald's sprite and literally heard that mf sizzling, haven't had one since lmao," he said.

Sharing their feedback of the drink, Luna asked: "Dude, why is it spicy."

MEMEKEEPER wrote: "Don't take a sip my boy that's sprite concentrate."

Prince Spellman said: "McDonalds Sprite will take a sip of you instead you taking a sip of it fr lol."

NUFF commented: "McDonald's Sprite can probably fry fish."

While Father Box added: "Somebody said McDonald's sprite tastes like what Super Saiyan 2 looks like."

And Maxx beloved said: "Idk how to explain it but it feels like a fire cracker went off in your mouth."

Other customers also shared their own memes, including snaps of melted computers attributed to spilling Sprite, faces disintegrating and a glowing figure, also referring to the beverage.

In January, the McDonald's official account shared a snap of the static seen on old TVs, which was liked 18,000 times, saying: "McDonald's sprite be like."

While as far back as August 2021, the account tweeted: "A sip of McDonald's Sprite is like ____." That post was like 11,000 times, as people came up with their own wild theories.

McDonald's acknowledges the notoriety Sprite has, as a spokesperson told Newsweek: "You may have heard the Sprite at McDonald's just hits different."

They said a combination of factors contributes to its punchy taste, including filtering and pre-chilling the water and Sprite syrup, as well as carefully calculated ratios and a wider straw—allowing more liquid to hit your palette for the initial kick.

They told Newsweek: "Truth be told, when serving the fan-favorite, we simply follow steps from our friends at Coca-Cola—then add a little McDonald's magic—to ensure a tasty, gold standard fountain drink for our fans.

"We usually keep it under wraps, but this includes filtering and pre-chilling all the water and Sprite syrup before it enters our fountain dispensers—with the ratio of syrup set to allow for ice to melt.

"We also keep our fountain beverage system cold so your drink is always refreshing. And we can't forget about the straw—it's slightly wider than a typical straw so all that Sprite taste can hit your taste buds."

Sprite is served in four sizes, with the website saying: "Sprite is a delicious lemon-lime fountain drink and is available in sizes extra small, small, medium, and large. Sprite is a caffeine-free soda that makes the perfect addition to any McDonald's Combo Meal.

"There are 140 calories in a Small Sprite at McDonald's." While the ingredients are listed as: "Carbonated Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors, Sodium Benzoate (to Protect Taste)."
