Americans may not agree on much, but one thing is guaranteed to bring everyone to the table, pizza. It’s estimated that nationwide we eat 350 slices of pizza each second, which equals 100 acres of pizza each and every day. Locally, Brewery City Pizza in Thurston County has been a beloved family pizzeria since 1982 and grown alongside the community we call home. They’re newly refreshed and reopened so next time the mood hits, swing by for your favorite slice, pie or trip down memory lane.

Brewery City Pizza Invites Your Family to Create Happy Lunch and DinnerTime Memories

In Thurston County, nearly everyone has a connection to Brewery City Pizza. Whether you knew founder Dennis Gard, worked there in high school, or celebrated end-of-season, birthday, and pizza parties through the 90s, it’s a local landmark. Good luck finding someone in Olympia, Lacey or Tumwater who doesn’t have a memory involving their ooey-gooey, cheesy pizza or other mouth-watering menu items. It’s been a beloved family pizzeria since 1982 and new changes mean it’ll stay vibrant into 2024 and beyond.

Their dining rooms were recently closed for renovation, but it was well worth the wait. Now reopened, customers can enjoy fan-favorites and plenty of extras on special occasions or just weekly family pizza night. Enjoy reminiscing with your old memories while making new ones over a sizzling pie and plenty of cheesy garlic bread.

Brewery City Pizza Honors Family, Friends and Pasta

After the passing of founder Dennis Gard in 2017, his sister Irene put the business up for sale. But the family atmosphere was too special to give up. Brothers Dan and Jonathan Tweten of Sound Restaurant Family purchased the chain in 2021 with a goal of preserving Brewery City Pizza’s unique heritage and keeping the business alive.

Sound Restaurant Family is just that. They are an owner-operated, family business who maintain restaurants with history and authenticity in our region. These include Fife’s Poodle Dog, which has been a mainstay since 1933 and Knapp’s Restaurant in Tacoma, a Proctor favorite since 1938.

But as with many businesses, the pandemic slowdown had a major impact. Brewery City Pizza created an in-store, digital and box topper survey in May 2023 asking the public how they’d like to see Brewery City Pizza improve for the next 40 years. More than 1,500 replies rolled in, and their team began brainstorming ways to provide the best food, service and atmosphere possible.

Thurston County Pizza Favorite Reopens its Doors and Welcomes Everyone Back for a Slice

Though take-out and delivery were available during the two and a half months of dining room closures for renovations, Brewery City Pizza is glad to fully reopen at last. They welcome guests to experience updated interiors, fixtures, tables, chairs and even new plates. With refreshed logos and branding to match a new coat of paint, Brewery City Pizza is clean, updated and ready for the next wave of hungry diners.

Behind the scenes, service, training and even food prep was streamlined. The menu remains largely the same, and tasty new items can now be found as well as lower pricing and extended lunch and happy hour deals.

Whether this is your first time visiting or just the first time this week, Brewery City Pizza is more than pizza. They offer in-house made dough – with a secret family recipe – as well as sausage and sauces created in their Lacey commissary kitchen. They source top quality ingredients with a goal of making food “where crust meets craft,” as their team calls it.

Brewery City Pizza is in the Community, and for the Community

In keeping with our region’s longstanding history – and restaurant’s name – the Tweten brothers focused on putting the brewery back into Brewery City Pizza. From beer cheese mac-and-cheese to expanded local craft beers on tap, they’re working with local breweries like Lacey’s Top Rung Brewing Company, Triceratops Brewing Company in Tumwater and Puyallup’s Powerhouse Restaurant and Brewery.

Another pillar of their new chapter is a commitment to investing back into the communities where they operate via the Pizza with Purpose program. This includes hosting dine out fundraisers and participating in community sponsorships and will fully take off in early 2024.

All three locations are open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Lunch specials are served in-house every day from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. with daily Happy Hour from 3 to 6 p.m. Lacey offers full-service dining while Tumwater and West Olympia locations order at the counter and it’s delivered to your table. You can also order online or check out the delivery map to see if you’re in their zone.

Definitely try the ever-popular Brewmaster pizza: Brewery City Pizza Sauce, mozzarella, Canadian bacon, Brewery City sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives and red onions. Or create your own pizza from an array of ingredients. There are also salads, sandwiches, calzones, appetizers and of course beers on tap to wash it all down.

Learn more on the new Brewery City Pizza website and follow Brewery City Pizza on Facebook and Instagram. Then grab your keys, load everyone into the car and head to your nearest spot and start making memories one bite at a time.
