Amazon Prime members are now getting free Grubhub delivery.
The perk reflects the expanding partnership of the two companies, according to a CNN report, and Amazon has an option to grab a 2% stake in the meal delivery business.
Prime subscribers can sign up for a free one-year Grubhub membership. The food delivery service charges $9.99 per month for unlimited free deliveries.
"Amazon has tried to build its own third-party food marketplace for years and did not have much success," Ralph Schackart, an analyst with William Blair, wrote in a research note, according to CNN. "Today's announcement looks like a potential partnership approach to establish itself back in the space."
DoorDash is the leader when it comes to meal delivery in the U.S. with 59% market share. Uber Eats has 34% and Grubhub has 13%, according to Bloomberg's Second Measure data.
