PARMA, Ohio -- Growing up in Ukraine, Hanna Yendrys was an avid baker at an early age thanks to her grandmother.
After moving to stateside four years ago with her husband and family, the Ukrainian Village resident is now ready to share her European-style recipes and delicious creations via new home business Tasty Space.
“It’s my home bakery because I love to bake as a hobby,” Yendrys said. “Now I want to do it as my job, but it’s taken me two years because I didn’t speak English.
“After taking classes at Tri-C, I can speak with people and explain what I bake and also what they want. So I’m ready to work.”
Currently the Tasty Space menu includes desserts such as custom cakes, chocolate nut clusters, strawberry sponge cake, rolled waffles, mini donuts and basket pastries topped with cream and fruit.
Yendrys said not only does she offer sampler boxes to customers but there are plans to expand her menu in the future.
“I most like making cakes,” Yendrys said. “People have told me they like chocolate. I can also recommend toppings such as strawberries or blueberries. They tell me it’s good and come back for more.”
The ultimate goal for Yendrys is one day opening a small bakery in, of course, the Ukrainian Village.
“I love Parma,” Yendrys said. “The parks are beautiful. I enjoy riding bikes with my kids in the city.”
Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter noted the Tasty Space cakes look amazing.
“Congrats to owner Hanna on opening Tasty Space here in Parma,” DeGeeter said. “This is another prime example of what makes our country and city what it is. It’s a terrific story.”
